Benefits Navigation Case Manager

Summary:
As our Benefits Navigation Case Manager, you have a strong sense of duty and are committed to helping individuals and families in poverty access resources within the community. You have a congenial and cooperative attitude with an efficient and precise work ethic. You are a detail oriented, highly precise worker with a high preference for quality and technical expertise.  You are conservative and respectful of authority. We are Ogden Weber Community Action Partnership (OWCAP), and we are searching for two Benefits Navigation Case Managers to connect participants with internal and community resources that help them achieve their self-sufficiency goals. 

What you’ll need to be our Benefits Navigation Case Manager: 

  • Congenial and cooperative with an efficient, precise work ethic
  • Socially focused with lots of attention spent on building and maintaining relationships          
  • Unselfish and approachable with a preference for detailed, skill-based work
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field (Family Studies, Psychology, etc.).
  • Minimum three years working experience in related field
  • Experience working with low-income families and community services preferred
  • Bi-lingual preferred
  • Additional education may be substituted for experience (paid or unpaid) or a combination of both

What you’ll do as the Benefits Navigation Case Manager: 
  • Ensure accurate TANF eligibility determination and data entry into the TANF Eligibility Verification System (TVES).
  • Perform on-going case management and referral services to participants to improve their ability to transition off of government benefits and into self-sufficiency using a holistic, comprehensive approach.
  • Gather real time data on participants’ income, benefits, program utilization, household composition, and other factors that may impact eligibility.
  • Improve participants’ awareness of how potential changes in their earned income impact their public assistance benefits through enhanced financial planning resources.
  • Work creatively with participants to develop family goals and strategies based on each families’ particular circumstances, beliefs, and behaviors.
  • Work with Community Support Manager to meet all requirements, and guidelines.
  • Collect and maintain relevant and timely data for reporting purposes.
  • Maintain timely case management documentation in database system.
  • Provide for the confidentiality of all services and communications, both written and verbal per agency, programmatic, and funding requirements.
